Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, CA

Marin County is BEAUTIFUL… Trees everywhere, beautiful scenic routes, and stunning views of the San Francisco cityscape. The Bay Area Discovery Museum for kids is no exception.

Parking is free, lots of trails to walk by, and the museum’s campus is full of fun interesting things for children to interact with. We went when it was super crazy busy- a Saturday morning when a new exhibit was opening up.

Despite the crowds, it was so impressive we bought a year membership (even though we live 2 hours away). The campus is impressive- an unexpected perk was FREE PARKING and great trails to stroll along. The Discovery is situated right next to the Golden Gate Bridge, along the water, and next to a Coast Guard training center where there’s a huge grassy field locals bring their dogs. Warning: watch out for cyclists! They are ubiquitous on the weekends and they are not afraid to bike where there is no designated bike lanes.

Quick tips:
1. Wear closed toe shoes
2. Bring a change of clothes
3. Bring snacks
4. Have good walking shoes and a stroller
